When Jesus prays, to whom does He prays if He is God?
I provide a detailed answer to this question in my latest FaceBook live video. It is part of my Bible Study series titled, "How do we KNOW that Jesus is the one true God - utilizing only the scriptures". This is part 3, part 4 will air live this morning at 9 a.m. and part 5 Sunday morning at 10 a.m. The times are US Central.
The quick answer is Jesus - the Man, is praying to God who is a Spirit that is invisible. The Spirit who is God is the Godhead who is invisible. The Godhead is the Father-Son-Holy Spirit who CANNOT BE SEPARATED IN ANY WAY, EVER, who is the invisible Spirit whom we call God. Jesus, the body of the Man, is not the Son who is a member of the Godhead. He, Jesus, is the Son of the Godhead, who is Father-Son-Holy Spirit whom Jesus calls Father.
The Father who is God who is invisible, clothed Himself in the body of the Man Jesus in order to make Himself visible to His creation. The scriptures declares that the Father, God, is a consuming fire and is unapproachable in His Spirit form neither can any created thing withstand the express brightness of His radiant glory. This makes it impossible for God to create anything without FIRST veiling, clothing, covering, or cloaking Himself. How then did He create the world? By FIRST veiling, clothing, covering, and cloaking Himself in the body of the Man Jesus Christ. Jesus then is the visible part of the INVISIBLE God making God the Father of the Man Jesus Christ thereby making Jesus the GodMan.
Mankind was created in the IMAGE (spirit) and LIKENESS (soul) of God that is mankind has a human spirit. This image and likeness, the human spirit, which are invisible was then inserted into a body to make it visible. The visible part of humans is a direct representation of that person who is the spirit. While the body dies the real YOU who is spirit will never die nor cease to exist. Hence whenever I see your body, I see your human spirit who is invisible. THE HUMAN SPIRIT OF JESUS CHRIST IS THE GODHEAD who is God who is a Spirit that is invisible. Therefore whoever sees Jesus sees the invisible God who is His Father to whom Jesus the Man prays.
Now let me give you a few scriptures to back this up.
God CONCEALED - The Unapproachable Holy God.
17 Now to the King (the Godhead) eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:17
None of God’s creation, angels or men, can look upon Him unveiled
18 No one (none of creation) has seen God (in Spirit form) at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom (the front or visible part) of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1:18
16 Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:16
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed (Jesus is God’s clothing) with splendor and majesty, 2 covering (veiling) Yourself with light (the body of the man Jesus first) as with a cloak, (then creating all things through Jesus by) stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. Psalms 104:1-2
12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk (live) in the darkness (your old human spirit), but will have the light of (which is) life.” John 8:12
37 And the Father (the Godhead) Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His (the Godhead’s) voice at any time, nor seen His (Spirit) form. John 5:37
God REVEALED - The Unapproachable God Calls a Man to Approach Him
15 He (Jesus the Man) is the image (visible part) of the INVISIBLE God (the Godhead), the firstborn (the commencer) over all creation. Colossians 1:15
19 For it pleased the Father (the Godhead: Father-Son-Holy Spirit) that in Him all the fullness should dwell (be revealed to all creation), 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, WHETHER THINGS ON EARTH OR THINGS IN HEAVEN, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Colossians 1:19-20
9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you (the believer) are COMPLETE (but only) IN HIM (CHRIST), who is the head of all principality and power (angels). Colossians 2:9-10
Hope that helps.
