Is the man Jesus Christ really God?
Below is my response to the question asked: Is Christ Jesus called the Creator or the Firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15)
Basically, what's being asked is this, is Jesus the Creator or the first person God created?
It simply means that the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) possessed the body of the man, Jesus, before anything was created. After possessing the body of the man, Jesus, the Godhead used that man to create everything else.
Listen to the man Jesus Christ declare this truth in Proverbs 8:
22 "The LORD POSSESSED ME at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old.
23 I have been established from everlasting,
From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.
24 When there were no depths I was brought forth,
When there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills, I was brought forth;
26 While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields,
Or the primal dust of the world.
27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there,
When He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He established the clouds above,
When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,
29 When He assigned to the sea its limit,
So that the waters would not transgress His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth,
30 Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman;
And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world,
And my delight was with the sons of men. Proverbs 8:22-31
Now listen to the Man, after He stepped out of eternity into the world He created:
5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:5
The Holy Spirit explains this truth through the apostle Paul in the book of Philippians:
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7
Ask yourself, when was Jesus in the FORM OF GOD? As a member of the triune Godhead before anything was created. Then ask yourself, when did He not consider it robbery to be equal with God? When He was in the body of the Man.
In the beginning, God chose a man to approach HIm. The Psalmist declared this truth:
4 Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple. Psalms 65:4
Jeremiah is the second witness to this truth: Jesus is the governor that approaches the Most High God prior to anything being created. 21 Their nobles shall be from among them, And their governor shall come from their midst; Then I will cause him to draw near, And he shall approach Me; For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?' says the LORD. 22 'You shall be My people, And I will be your God.'" Jeremiah 30:21-22
Daniel is the third witness: The Ancient of Days is the Godhead which includes the Son. The they is the Godhead, the Him is the Man Jesus Christ. 13 "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14
Jesus Himself confirms this truth: The only thing in all creation that has ever seen that has ever seen the Godhead - the One True God, is the Man Jesus Christ.
43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. John 6:43-46
Finally, the Holy Spirit shows the same event to the apostle John:
1 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?" 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."
6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. Revelation 5:1-7
The angels has never seen God, they saw the Man Jesus Christ. Paul confirms this:
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3:16
Ask yourself, when was God manifest (seen) in the flesh? When the man Jesus Christ was born in the fullness of time. Ask yourself, how was God justified in the Spirit? When the Holy Spirit offered the man Jesus Christ as the lamb and the Father received His Spirit. Ask yourself, when was God seen by angels? When the man Jesus, who was possessed by the Godhead, stepped out of eternity to create them.
In Zechariah the LORD of hosts declared that there is a Man that is His equal (companion means equal):
7 "Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,"
Says the LORD of hosts. "Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered;
Then I will turn My hand against the little ones. Zechariah 13:7
It was the LORD of hosts (the Godhead) that bruised the man Jesus Christ before the foundation or the creation of the world:
12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him. 13 But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance Psalms 55:12-13
8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 13:8
The LORD stated through the prophet Zechariah that He was pierced. Ask yourself, how can a Spirit be pierced? It was the Man Jesus whom the Godhead (Spirit of God) possessed that was pierced. Yet the Man is speaking as if He is God, because He is!
10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10
Here is the conclusion, the Godman is coming back! The question is will you be one of the saints coming back with Him.
3 Then the LORD will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle. 4 And in that day His feet (the Lord Jesus Christ - a Spirit doesn't have feet) will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.
5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the LORD my God will come, And all the saints with You. Zechariah 14:1-5
Oh my friend, Jesus Christ is the Godman! Jesus is the Most High God!
