Should someone who believes in the doctrine of Predestination or Election evangelize?

Today, I answer this question from Eric. Of course, I am not a Calvinist, I’m a scripturist.

Common question for Calvinist but I never heard a good answer that made any sense: Why do Calvinist evangelize when people are chosen before they are born and nothing can change that election? If everybody that will be with the Lord at the end is already marked to be with the Lord at the end then why go and tell them about the gospel when they’re already saved even before they know they are saved?

The answer to your question is really simple and there are many references in the Bible concerning this truth.

You asked, "why evangelize?" The scriptures , not Paul, answered, "21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, IT PLEASED GOD THROUGH THE FOOLISHNESS OF THE MESSAGE PREACHED (THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST) TO SAVE THOSE WHO BELIEVE." 1 Corinthians 1:21

That's the answer. Jesus said go preach to everyone. Why Lord? Because that's the method I have chosen to reach those who will believe in Me.

Then the apostle Paul adds - please allow me to walk you through these verses.

13 But we (Paul and his fellow believers)

are bound to give thanks to God always (why are you all thankful Paul?)

for you (for me, really?),

brethren (oh you mean that I am a fellow believer therefore your brother in Christ, ok got it.)

beloved by the Lord (and because I am a believer, I am beloved by God, wonderful),

(now will you please tell me why you all are giving thanks to God always for me?)
BECAUSE GOD FROM THE BEGINNING (that's the when this happened)

CHOSE YOU (that's the who it happened to)

FOR SALVATION (that's the reason it happened)

(Now God explains how He makes it happen) THROUGH SANCTIFICATION BY THE SPIRIT (this is God's part which happens first)

AND BELIEF (this is man's part which MUST follow God the Holy Spirit's part)

IN THE TRUTH (Jesus claimed to be The Truth and God's word is Truth therefore can be translated "in Christ"),

14 (now God gives us the method in which He fulfills His own plan) TO WHICH HE (GOD) CALLED YOU (yes you, oh and me too)

(well how did you chose to do that God?) BY OUR GOSPEL (do you mean evangelism God? What's the purpose for that?) FOR THE OBTAINING OF THE GLORY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. (that's called salvation, when God will conform us to the image of His Son.). 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

28 And we know that all things work together for good (only) to those WHO LOVE GOD, (and who might they be) to THOSE WHO ARE THE CALLED (for what reason Lord?) according to His purpose (God doesn't save people for any other reason, it is God's purpose alone.). 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these (AND ONLY THESE) He also CALLED; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

I can go to every book in the New Testament and many in the Old Testament but I will give one more. Listen carefully and read slowly and ask yourself the why questions.

9 who (speaking of Christ who is God) has saved us (God alone saves, your assistance is not required, only your faith)

(how did you do that Lord?) and
(God says, I) called
(well whom did you call God?) us (those who believe)
(well, how did you do that Lord?) with a holy calling (oh, you mean the gospel),
(what else Lord?) not according to our works (WHAT?!, are You saying I can't assist You by saying the sinners prayer, by reading my Bible ten chapters each day, by going to church daily, by doing ANYTHING? I can't believe that. You have to explain this to me Lord, why did You determine to save me without my assistance?),

(Okay, I will) but according to His own purpose and grace (because You wanted to. You mean simply because You wanted ME to be with You? Oh thank You Lord!)

(Is it just to me, Lord?) which was given to us (oh, there are others too, that's great)

(Who are they, Lord? Those that are) in Christ Jesus (In Christ Jesus? Oh, You mean born again and believe. Got it.)

(Does this happen the minute I believe, Lord? No, Kevin. It happened) before time began, 2 Timothy 1:9

7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:7-11

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

God evangelizes the elect through the gospel which is the call of the Father for the chosen to come to Christ.

The Lord Himself explained it this way:

37 ALL THAT THE FATHER GIVES ME WILL COME TO ME, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. John 6:37

39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of ALL HE HAS GIVEN ME I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up at the last day. John 6:39

43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me UNLESS THE FATHER WHO SENT ME DRAWS HIM; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:43-44

65 And He said, "Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless IT HAS BEEN GRANTED TO HIM BY MY FATHER." John 6:65

1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as YOU HAVE GIVEN HIM. John 17:1-2

6 "I have manifested Your name to the men WHOM YOU HAVE GIVEN ME OUT OF THE WORLD. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. John 17:6

9 "I PRAY FOR THEM. I do not pray for the world but FOR THOSE WHOM YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, FOR THEY ARE YOURS. John 17:9

11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name THOSE WHOM YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, that they may be one as We are. John 17:11

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. THOS WHOM YOU GAVE ME I HAVE KEPT; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12

24 "Father, I desire that THEY ALSO WHOM YOU GAVE ME may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24

If Jesus, who is God, says that God the Father gave the believers to the Son, then who am I to say that the Father did not.

John Calvin did not write the book. Who cares what Calvin thinks or believe. I don't. What matters is what the scriptures teaches. If we follow that then we will never stray from the truth.
